Three FAASTT courses are available to be taken as a standalone (CPD) route or for academic credit. Delivered via ten weekly 90-minute lectures these are recorded and flexible to be accessed in your own time. When combined for academic credit, these can comprise our Post Graduate Certificate in FASD* (can span 36 months).

Information on our courses are outlined below:

FASD Courses

A comprehensive overview of the epidemiology, presentation and effects of FASD and prenatal alcohol exposure. Delivered annually in September, this brings learners to a skilled level in FASD.

Supporting health care professionals to develop their practice in the assessment, diagnosis and post-diagnostic support for individuals with FASD. Delivered annually in January, this brings learners to an enhanced level in FASD.

Covering complexity within FASD neurodevelopmental assessment, multidisciplinary team assessment, analysis and case formulation, requiring complex differential diagnosis skills. Delivered annually in September this brings learners to an experienced level in FASD.

Please note, applicants who have previously attended the University of Edinburgh may be eligible for a graduate scholarship if taking the course for academic credit.

Learners on all courses can benefit from the ongoing support of the FAAST Team via our pre-bookable online consultation facility. This is helpful in assisting practitioners to consolidate new skills and discuss associated service developments.

Postgraduate Certificate in FASD

Europe’s first PG Cert in FASD is comprised of 3 x 10-week courses delivered online:

  • Understanding FASD: Context, Contributors & Clinical Presentation
  • The Assessment and Diagnosis of FASD
  • Advanced Practice in FASD

Courses can also be taken on a stand-alone classed as ‘continuous professional development’ CPD, either ‘for academic credit’ or for CPD ‘not for credit’.

Courses are able to be taken on a stand-alone basis, as CPD. CPD only courses are less time intensive (1 x 90 minute online lecture per week) and do not require assessment to pass.
